Hang Outdoor Lights With Wire

Outdoor string lights

Wire cutters

Step 1: Plan your layout

Step 2: Cut the wire

Once you have planned your layout, you need to cut the wire to the desired lengths. Measure the distance between the lights and add a few extra inches for slack. Cut the wire using wire cutters.

Step 3: Strip the ends of the wire

Once the wire is cut, you need to strip the ends of the wire. Use pliers to remove about 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of the wire. This will expose the bare metal wires.

Step 4: Connect the lights to the wire
