How To Build An Outdoor TV Enclosure

An outdoor TV enclosure is a great way to protect your TV from the elements and enjoy your favorite shows and movies outdoors. Building an outdoor TV enclosure is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a weekend.

Materials:

1 sheet of 3/4-inch plywood
1 sheet of 1/2-inch plywood
1 tube of construction adhesive
1 box of 1-1/4-inch wood screws
1 box of 2-inch wood screws
1 roll of weatherstripping
1 can of spray paint (optional)

Tools:

Circular saw
Jigsaw
Drill
Screwdriver
Caulk gun
Measuring tape
Level

Instructions:

Cut the 3/4-inch plywood to the following dimensions: 2 pieces at 48 inches long by 24 inches wide, 2 pieces at 24 inches long by 24 inches wide, and 1 piece at 48 inches long by 12 inches wide.
Cut the 1/2-inch plywood to the following dimensions: 2 pieces at 46 inches long by 22 inches wide, 2 pieces at 22 inches long by 22 inches wide, and 1 piece at 46 inches long by 10 inches wide.
Assemble the frame of the enclosure by attaching the 48-inch by 24-inch pieces to the 24-inch by 24-inch pieces using 2-inch wood screws. Make sure the corners are square and the frame is level.
Attach the 48-inch by 12-inch piece to the top of the frame using 1-1/4-inch wood screws. This will form the back of the enclosure.
Attach the 1/2-inch plywood to the inside of the frame using 1-1/4-inch wood screws. Make sure the edges of the plywood are flush with the edges of the frame.
Cut a hole in the front of the enclosure for the TV. The hole should be slightly smaller than the TV so that the TV will fit snugly inside.
Attach the weatherstripping around the edges of the hole to keep out the elements.
Paint the enclosure (optional). Allow the paint to dry completely before mounting the TV.
Mount the TV inside the enclosure. Make sure the TV is secured tightly to the enclosure.
