Do It Yourself Outdoor Shower

An outdoor shower can be a great way to cool off on a hot day, rinse off after a swim, or just enjoy the fresh air. Building your own outdoor shower is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a weekend. Here are the steps on how to do it.

Materials You'll Need:

  • Shower head
  • Shower arm
  • Mixing valve
  • PVC pipe and fittings
  • Concrete mix
  • Gravel
  • Screws
  • Wood planks
  • Privacy screen (optional)

Step 1: Choose a Location

The first step is to choose a location for your outdoor shower. You'll want to pick a spot that is level, well-drained, and has access to water. You'll also want to make sure that the location is private, if desired.

Step 2: Build the Base

Once you have chosen a location, you need to build the base for your shower. This can be done by pouring a concrete pad or by laying down gravel. If you are pouring a concrete pad, you will need to dig a hole that is about 6 inches deep and 3 feet wide. Fill the hole with concrete and level it off. If you are laying down gravel, you will need to spread a layer of gravel that is about 2 inches thick.

Step 3: Install the Plumbing

The next step is to install the plumbing for your shower. This includes running the water supply line to the shower head and installing the mixing valve. The mixing valve is what allows you to control the temperature of the water. Once the plumbing is installed, you can attach the shower head to the shower arm.

Step 4: Build the Walls

The next step is to build the walls for your shower. This can be done by framing the walls with wood and then covering them with wood planks. You can also use a privacy screen to add some privacy to your shower.

Step 5: Install the Door

The next step is to install the door for your shower. This can be done by hanging a door from the top of the frame. You can also use a shower curtain to add some privacy to your shower.

Step 6: Enjoy Your Outdoor Shower

Once your outdoor shower is complete, you can enjoy it by taking a shower in the fresh air. You can also use your outdoor shower to rinse off after a swim or to cool off on a hot day.
