1. Choose a planting site

2. Prepare the soil

5. Fertilize the basil

Fertilize the basil every few weeks with a balanced fertilizer. You can also add compost or manure to the soil around the plants.

6. Harvest the basil

Basil can be harvested as soon as it is large enough to use. To harvest basil, cut the leaves off the stems. You can use basil fresh or dried. To dry basil, hang the stems upside down in a warm, dry place. The leaves will dry in 1 to 2 weeks.
